Why Do I Have to Accomidate You?
Its amazing to me how many people haven’t got a clue what a white cane is!!! Its amazing to me that no matter if your carrying a white cane and your recognized as blind people will not accommodate you!!! Then there are the forms of life that have the stupidity to judge you “not disabled enough”, or “ not blind”. Because you don’t look or act blind!!! Whatever that means.
I decided to carry the white cane to openly identify myself as blind. It seems that people think I’m some crazy man wearing odd colored safety glasses measuring things with my little stick. The only thing I think I’m measuring is the utter lack of intelligent life. Harsh perhaps.
I’m not bitter I’m just amazed. I’ve always been told never ask if things can get worse, they can. Never ask how stupid a human being can be because you really don’t want to know, well currently I’m surprised.
I remind all of you. I can’t see your kid that is running around like a will animal and if I run over them because they are under foot its YOUR fault not mine. Also if you have to be in front and have to push and weave in and out or cut me off. Just get in front. I know I will get a turn. If your time is that much more important than mine that you are willing to jeopardize my safety then just get in front. I pity you and go get your blood pressure checked.
Also if you think I’m crazy enough to be willing to carry a white cane with a wheel and wear funny colored glasses I’d think you’d want to give me some space because god knows what else I’d do……
In the meantime. Please make way make room, watch your children as I really don’t want to step on them. I’m working really hard to pay attention not to impact you negatively. All I’m asking is the same consideration.
