Ode to Attitude
Attitude was a bear, a teddy bear to be precise died on Jan 1, 2011. Attitude was the best $10 I ever spent on anything for my kids. This bear, Attitude, seen my daughter through her first 16 years of life. My children survived a horrific fire in their apartment complex. The downstairs neighbour spent new years eve smoking pot and the smouldering ashes set off a murderous destructive blaze. With great terror the survivors witnessed the four children and the father from the downstairs apartment parish in the smoke and flames. All of my prayers for the mother who was widowed and lost her family all of my hope and prayers to you as you find your new life.
My children lost everything in the fire. Through friends I have at Microsoft I was able to get them some cloths, underwear and a few bucks. Through the magic of the telephone I was able to get them a little taste of Christmas as theirs was lost. But the hero’s are my kids. My son and daughter are pulling it all together and with the help of their friends they will be reestablished with another furnished apartment.
I have learned the word Gratitude for the people that have stepped up and helped me help my family. I have profound thanks for these folks that I do not have words to express. All I can say is thank you.
But today my heart is heavy for one very special bear, I thank you Attitude for all that you’ve done and you will never be forgotten.
Today I also rejoice my children are talking to me and accepting my love and my help. Today I am a father again and I love it.
