Changing a Diaper

images-17
Isn’t it a right of passage for a parent to get painted with urine or plastered with poo while changing a diaper? I think all of us parents have at least one story, well maybe two.

I’m not convinced that there is any difference being blind and changing diapers. Its a nasty affair at the best of times and thank God for velcro. When I first had kids I was going to be the best green environmentally friendly dad in the world. Yeah that lasted. Even with a diaper services that would take the cloth diapers back fully loaded this was not fun.I hate to admit it my children’s output will be picked through by archeologists of the next earth inhabiting species going hmmm interesting.
Pins are a problem. A real big problem. I hate needles at the best of time and pins on diapers and me were just not happening. This is from the guy who faints at the thumb prick when I’m trying to give blood. I don’t try anymore. After fainting three times I figures its best if I don’t crowd the floor and scare other potential donors away.
It was velcro for me!!! Velcro and wipes were Gods gifts to parents.
Technique is very simple.
Smell the diaper / Change the diaper.
Wipe off and remove all detectable brown stuff
Cover any red stuff, diaper rash, with white soothing stuff.
Put new clean diaper on
Dispose of dirty diaper as quickly as possible and pray you never have to smell it again.
O.K. I admit it. My quality when wiping off brown stuff and putting on white stuff was not always up to snuff but I did what I could and my children both survived the experience.
